The Operating Suite Nursing Staff at the Vaucluse Hospital are committed to the development of professional standards and their subsequent implementation for patients undergoing surgical intervention.
About Us
At the Vaucluse Hospital Operating Suite, we believe the purpose of the operating suite is to provide the highest possible standards of peri-operative management and intervention. We also recognize the diverse ethnic origins of our patients and believe it is our responsibility to assist in upholding cultural mores.
We have four modern operating rooms that fully meet the A.C.H.S. accreditation standards. Our Operating Suite specialises in:

- Orthopaedic

- Gynaecology
- Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
- Respiratory Investigation - Bronchoscopy
Our Peri-operative Nurses provide care for patients during the pre, intra and immediate post operative phases and maintain awareness of their physical, emotional, spiritual and cultural needs.
Our Recovery Room consists of eight bays and includes day surgery recovery chairs. This allows us to provide a personal and confidential service to our patients.
We have a fully operational sterile supply facility that works in line with Infection Control Standards AS4187. Scheduled monitoring and maintenance activities ensure the correct functioning of all of our sterilising equipment. Our infection rate is currently 0.1%.
Continuing quality improvements ensure that our Operating Suite continues best practice standards in line with recognised professional groups such as the Australian College of Operating Room Nurses, the College of Surgeons and the Anaesthetic Society. All our professional staff, medical and nursing, are credentialed yearly and are all subject to peer review and maintain continuing education, ensuring best practice.
